With that in mind, and I know we're only 20 days into 2016 and the temperature in various places dropped to -8 this morning, so it may seem odd if not crazy to be talking about trends for spring/summer, but once the January sales have cleared, the new seasons collections will be making their way into stores with gusto and if you want to be fashion forward and one step ahead of the rest, now is the time to start thinking about them, albeit with your thermals on!
But it's not just the fashion industry that is talking trends but hair and beauty too so I've asked a few of my favourite local businesses to write a guest blog on what we can expect to see over the next few months, starting with the fantastic hair salon on Whiteladies Road, MANE Hairdressing.
"2016 is about keeping it simple, individual and finding the perfect style for your hair.
This season enhance your hair with extra texture, curls and colour, summer's on it's way and it's time to love your kinks, curls and waves, be brave and rock what you've got!
We're uncovering our favourite hair trends for spring/summer, and how to get the look...
Firstly, be brave... If you've been pondering on a big chop, now's the time... We simply love a lob (long bob), keeping all the top layers longer and adding more disconnected layers underneath adding shape and texture. It's also really easy to style, simply wash and add a few pumps of 'John Masters Organics-Sea Mist' to the underlying layers and smooth or scrunch the longer layers with 'Moroccan Oil-Light'...
Second on our top 3 hair trends to love this spring/summer is, wear it up! Wether it's a messy quiff, a high ponytail, pinned to one side or in chunky braids and twists... Use 'TIGI sugar dust' for the ultimate matt finish and body... Texture is everything, curl with a wand, add some highlights, make it big and wear it with confidence!
Finally, this seasons colours are soft, natural tones of muted gold and violet creating a mink, cool colour with a golden sunkissed shimmer... You can add these tones to your colour easily; as a semipermanent gloss, a toner on your balayage, we love these colours in a set of beautiful highlights too...
Good luck finding your style this season and if you're still struggling then why not book in with us for a complimentary consultation to help you discover the perfect cut, colour or product for your hair."
I'm liking the sound of all of the above, especially the texture and curls being a natural curly headed person myself! I've been a regular at Mane for almost 3 years and can only say great things about them so if you are looking for a change in salon or would like to try a new stylist, I highly recommend them. For more information either head over to their FB page here: MANE Hairdressing Salon or take a look at their website: www.manehairdressing.co.uk. So what do you think? Are you tempted to try any of the new hair trends out? If so, I'd love to hear, or if you're thinking your wardrobe needs tackling first but don't know where to start, get in touch and we can have a chat: [email protected] or 0771 875 0019.
Enjoy the rest of this gloriously sunny but cold day!
