I've had the pleasure of being an Image Consultant and Personal Stylist for 11 years and I often hear clients say the same things to me, for example, "you're going to throw everything in my wardrobe out", "there's no need to go through my wardrobe as everything is awful" or "I'm so embarrassed for you to see my clothes" and sadly, "nothing looks good on me since I've put on weight". So I thought I'd debunk some myths around personal styling that might make you think differently.
Number 1 - I will never judge you by what you own, your style choices or what you look like in terms of your age, size or shape. Women come in all shapes and sizes and I embrace them all with a non-judgmental attitude.
Number 2 - I can guarantee that I won't leave you empty wardrobed! I might have a good declutter, but you won't wake up the next day literally with nothing to wear.
Number 3 - I won't ever 'dictate' what you can and can't wear. I will try and guide you towards the right styles, but if you love something and feel good in it, then who am I to say you can't/shouldn't wear it.
Number 4 - I won't talk you into buying anything you don't love, even if I think it looks great on you, as I know you'll take it home, hang it up and it won't get worn. In order for you to wear something, you have to feel good in it and I can tell straight away if you're not 'feeling it'.
Number 5 - When we go shopping, I don't dress you in items that I love for myself. Our time together is all about you and what will work best for you and creating a style that is right for your shape, personality, lifestyle and budget.
Number 6 - You CAN be comfortable, warm AND stylish! I won't compromise the way something looks over how it feels and how comfortable you are. If you don't wear heels, no problem, me neither! I don't believe in the saying "no pain, no gain"!
Number 7 - I won't turn you into a version of yourself that you don't recognise. My aim is to create a look for you that makes you feel like the very best version of yourself each and every day.
Number 8 - I can guarantee that you will have items in your wardrobe that you have never thought about combining which will leave you feeling like you have much more choice than you at first thought.
Number 9 - You won't need to spend a fortune and buy a whole new wardrobe. I will identify what gaps are missing and fill these in with you on our shopping trip which will make your existing wardrobe work harder for you, bringing you greater flexibility and versatility and over time, a capsule collection of clothes.
Number 10 - After our time together, whether it's just a colour analysis, wardrobe consultation or a combination of these with personal shopping, your confidence will be boosted, you'll feel happier in your own skin and choosing an outfit each day will become a joy rather than a drag.
