This season’s (is it Spring yet? It certainly felt like it today) trend for printed trousers is a good one to follow if you’re a typical ‘apple’. Traditionally this body shape has a tummy, bigger boobs and no defined waist but has fantastic legs and no hips. If this sounds like you, a great way of drawing attention away from your lumpy bits and towards those gorgeous pins, is to wear patterned or coloured trousers. This draws the eye down to the area you want to show off. There is a huge variety currently available in the shops but I spotted these ones in Zara which are really good value, a great fit and would look great with a t-shirt and jacket. I’m planning on wearing mine with a oversized white t-shirt and black blazer. Shoes are undecided…..

When it comes to Summer I love all things floaty which is quite a contrast to my Winter style which tends to be a bit darker, heavier and slightly edgier. Come the warmer months my faithful maxi dresses are brought out of hibernation and are put to work giving me a relaxed and easygoing style. I love anything that covers my legs in the Summer as I tend to stay on the pale side of life, and as me and fake tan don’t get on, maxi dresses are a great way of hiding a multitude
of sins. If you’re not a fan of dresses but like the idea of wearing something light and floaty – try a pair of palazzo pants instead (these are going to be big for SS 12). I spotted this pair from the Star range by Julien Macdonald in Debenhams this morning (the photo doesn’t do them justice). The pattern, whilst leopard print (always in fashion), is still elegant and would look great worn with a black vest, brown wedges and a cardigan or biker jacket. If leather is a bit too rock ‘n’ roll for you – try pairing with a belted linen jacket for a casual laid back. ps – To make your legs look as long as possible, make sure the hem is just skirting the floor. This will elongate you and give you supermodel limbs – well almost! |
I'm a lover of all things fashion, style and image related but more than that I believe passionately in the power of feeling good in your clothes.
I'm also a mum to a teenage daughter who is taller than me with legs longer than mine and a dog whose curls are glossier and bouncier than mine!! Archives
