Puppy Love

You can't go wrong with a classic brogue. Both comfortable AND stylish (hurrah I hear you cheer!) they look great worn with skirts, trousers, jeans and the right kind of dresses. Now that we're moving into a warmer season there is a range
of lovely brighter colours available which are a good choice for now. Not too Wintery but not too Summery either. Perfect for the British climate.

Hush Puppies has just released a female range of the Hemingway for Hush (Red or Dead designers) brogue which until now was only available for men and I have to say I'm slightly in love! Available in gorgeous pale colours and just a little
bit different to the standard brogue style, I think these will add impact to any outfit. With a bit of a platform they'll give you a welcomed boost and make your legs look that little bit longer.

They are quite expensive at over £100 so you would have to love them to justify the cost. But if I did get a pair I'd keep them at the end of my bed so they were the first thing I saw every morning!!! That's love...

Prints to Make You Smile

On my way back from meeting a lovely new client yesterday afternoon at The Mall, I quickly dropped into BHS to see how the new Dorothy Perkins and Wallis concessions are settling into their new home.  BHS if I'm honest isn't my favourite store so I don't usually venture into it, it's a bit dark, a bit frumpy and doesn't lend itself to the most uplifting shopping experience (although sometimes they  do pull the rabbit out of the bag and have lovely one off pieces and their shoes are quite good) so I was pleasantly surprised to see the new brands injecting some modernity and lightheartedness into the store.

Obviously the collections aren't as varied as in a stand alone shop but the selection was good enough. What really stood out though was Wallis' prints which were bright, feminine and very wearable with this scarf catching my eye in particular.  It's all the right colours for this season, is lightweight so easily wearable if it gets a bit hotter (here's hoping).  I love the pattern and think it would look great with a white linen vest, boyfriend pair of jeans and some flat sandals.  It's £16 in store but if you buy online it's only £12.80.

So next time you're in The Mall, challenge yourself to not walk past BHS, instead have a browse - you might just surprise yourself!

How to Look Designer on a High Street Budget

16/4/2013

Magazines, websites and designer lookbooks are a brilliant source of inspiration for influencing your own personal style.  Whilst you might not have a designer budget, the high street is usually hot on the heels of what's on the runways and so you can usually find something more affordable but still with an edge.

Quilted jackets are really popular this season and are cropping (excuse the pun) up everywhere.  I will admit that they might be a bit like marmite, you either love them or hate them but with less structure than a traditionally tailored jacket, they're great to wear with jeans and are a good transitional piece for now if you wanted to move away from wearing a cardigan.

Whilst doing some research this morning, I saw this jacket from IRO and it reminded me of one I'd seen on Zara's website (they are brilliant at turning designer looks into high street prices) so I thought I'd share it with you to demonstrate what I was saying earlier.  Whilst not exactly the same, you can see a similar theme.  One costs £465, the other £59.99.  Which one would you choose or do you hate both of them??  I'd love to know.

Ban Denim Woes Forever

One of my clients recently drew my attention to the amazing Wizard Jeans after she'd always found it frustrating and stressful finding decent, good quality jeans that fitted well, looked good and weren't ridiculously expensive.

Jeans are such a versatile item to have in your wardrobe and I think everyone should own at least one pair because they can be worn in so many different ways, but often clients complain of finding it difficult to get a pair that fit them properly AND look good.  Is this your experience too?

Well ladies, it seems that Wizard Jeans might just be the solution to your denim woes.  With body shaping technology, they have been designed to flatter, enhance and minimise.  There is a shape, size (they go from size 6 - 22) and colour for all body types with helpful guidelines as to what style will suit what shape.  I've done some online research and have read quite a few reviews and they come out really well (if you're interested in reading a few of the reviews click here).

They're not the cheapest but compared to others on the market are well priced given the quality, what they do, and not forgetting how they make you look and feel and if what the reviewers are saying about them is anything to go by,
you're going to be feeling bloomin fantastic!  I always recommend spending a bit extra and investing in good quality as they will last longer than cheaper alternatives and if you love them and wear them lots they'll end up costing you less than the bargain pair that you've worn twice and only lasted 6 months.

If you do decide to buy a pair, I'd love to hear how you get on with them.

Super Flats by Zara

I'm a self confessed shoeaholic and am not ashamed to say so!  I'm always on the lookout for the latest styles so these from Zara didn't disappoint.
They're so elegant and could easily be from LK Bennet for triple the price.

Worn with tailored ankle grazers and a gorgeous sleeveless chiffon blouse with a cropped blazer for an easy daytime work look, swap the shoes for heels and add a statement necklace and you've got a great evening look.

They're only £35.99 and also come in silver which would look lovely with an on trend all white outfit.

I'm a lover of all things fashion, style and image related, especially shoes with impractical high heels!
Bags are another fetish of mine as are jackets.  Mmm, I also seem to own lots of pairs of black shiny jeans, leggings, leather items........
I'm also a mum to a daughter who seems to be following in my high heeled footsteps!
